Vatican Prepares Call For New Global Economic Order

Embedded in this news update at Catholic Culture, Pope: Encyclical delayed because of economic crisis, is the revelation that the Vatican is preparing to support the call for a new global economic order:

“We must denounce” the global economic system, he said, “with courage, but also with concreteness because moralizing will not help if it is not supported by an understanding of reality, which also will help us understand what can be done concretely to change the situation.”

Anti-Israel is new anti-Semitism

by Maayan Jaffe, Baltimore Jewish Examiner

Anti-Semitism is getting pretty scary. A friend sent me a link the other day to a rally that happened in San Francisco during Israel’s incursion into Gaza last month. There were some signs calling on Israel to pull back. Mostly, however, were signs berating and degrading Jews. There were swastikas and there were calls for Jews to go back to the ovens (a reference to the Holocaust).

I could not believe that this protest took place in America!

I am pretty passionate about Israel, so I come with my own set of biases. But I do believe that anti-Israel sentiment is the new Anti-Semitism. Israel can do no right. The terrorists, somehow, gain Americans’ sympathy … the same terrorists whom danced on 9/11.

Contemplative Congressional Cohorts

On Capitol Hill – cultivating a monastery mind-set By Mary Beth McCauley CSM

WASHINGTON

During gnashing of teeth over the stimulus bill, a Thomas Merton-inspired House reflection group was holding hands and taking its weekly step back to reconcile personal conviction and political reality.

It’s supposed to be a reflection group, this early-morning gathering of a half-dozen members of Congress. And they begin reflectively enough – settled, with coffee and bagels, in a member’s memorabilia-lined office on Capitol Hill. There’s soothing background music, a thoughtful passage from spiritual giant Thomas Merton, a well-practiced shift from conversation to quiet. And they end in a pensive mood, too, joining hands in prayer.

...Thomas Merton, meet the stimulus legislation of 2009.

Forty years after his death, the Trappist monk’s vision of bringing a contemplative, spiritual perspective to people who lead ordinary lives still beckons, as the distracted and the disheartened yearn for a piece of the peace of the abbey: In Britain, the monastery mind-set has spawned a hit reality BBC television show. Gregorian chant has been at the top of the charts here and abroad. And 2,000 reflection groups, organized by the Merton Institute for Contemplative Living in Louisville, Ky., meet in universities, military bases, churches, and prisons around the world, for those who seek at least a shot of contemplation in a BlackBerry world. The two reflection groups offered to members of the House of Representatives are adaptations of the Merton Institute programs, conducted here for the past 17 years by Washington’s Faith and Politics Institute. The groups – ranging from three to eight members – are but part of the numerous prayer groups, Bible studies, and denominational worship programs available to legislators.

Merton’s abbey-inspired notion of melding the spiritual and the active lives might not seem doable here. But according to the Rev. Cletus Kiley, the Catholic priest who cofacilitates the groups, the warp speed of politics makes a spiritual perspective all the more necessary.

WHAT EVERY CHRISTIAN SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE NEW WORLD ORDER

By Pastor Chuck Baldwin NewsWithViews.com

I am amazed at how ignorant and seemingly unconcerned many of my Christian brethren appear regarding the very real threat to our liberties that a burgeoning New World Order presents. I have previously written two columns on this subject that I trust all my readers will share with their pastors and fellow churchmen (along with others, of course). See the columns here and here.

After writing the above columns, I proceeded to preach a full-length sermon entitled "What Every Christian Should Know About The New World Order." I am happy to report that this sermon is now available as an online video. It can be viewed free of charge by going here.

The Broken Wings of The Religious Left & Right

“Religious” Left’s Influence by Donald Hank
Medical experts know that pathogenic bacteria and viruses aren’t the only worrisome microbes out there. They speak of a “vector,” which is a bacterium that in itself is generally harmless but can serve as a host to a harmful, if not deadly, virus.

Rick Warren at the inauguration.
The American left has long strived to use religion as a vector to carry the deadly message of the Democrats to gullible Christians, and in this year’s election, it paid off big time. Evangelicals fell hard for the message of Obama thanks to numerous hardworking disease-carrying vectors among the religious community.

Rick Warren is easily identified as a key player for the Democrats, not by the religious right but by none other than Howard Dean. Who are we to argue?

According to the San Francisco Chronicle a while back:
Howard Dean, Democratic party chairman, recently credited Rick Warren and Joel Osteen with helping the Democrats.Dean specifically cited the positive impacts of Christian leaders such as Rick Warren - [...] — and of young pastor Joel Osteen….

Warren recently lamented America’s lack of civility in a televised speech and urged everyone to be more civil. However, someone from Rick’s Saddleback church pulled some strings and had a Christian web site critical of Warren taken down. And on a radio show, guest Pastor Wiley Drake reported that after he had recently criticized Rick Warren for his participation in the Obama inauguration, he began getting nasty emails from people who said they were members of Rick’s Saddleback Church, with many using profanity, lambasting Wiley for criticizing their dear leader. Civility seems to be a one-way street for these folks.

Now a group including Tony Campolo, a prominent spokesperson for the religious left, has risen to defend Rick Warren and his decision to offer the invocation at Obama’s inauguration. In an open letter, these gentle champions of civil discourse harshly condemn more-traditionalist Christians who object to Warren’s being unequally yoked with the pro-abortion Democrat.

Right-wing religious leaders are attacking the purpose-driven Pastor Rick Warren for inviting Senator Barack Obama to speak at a seminar about AIDS. Why the attacks? Because they disagree with Obama’s politics. Well, we’re hitting back.

Hitting back? What happened to turning the other cheek? Shouldn’t they do as Jesus preached and turn their sweet pink cheeks for some more of what was dished out, and not hit back? Tsk tsk tsk!

Enter The High Priests of Global Warming

The Washington Times In Global Warming We Trust by Anthony Sadar and Susan Cammarata

Many in the environmental profession have come to an epiphany like the one the late Michael Crichton had - that contemporary environmentalism, with its authoritative, unchallengeable proclamations and rigid tenets, is analogous to organized religion. This environmental religion is headed by politicians (or former politicians) as the high priests and an established political cathedral (read Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change).

These adored figureheads have selected verses from a collection of scientific data and climate effects to write their global-warming scriptures. Their holy writ includes a reworking of the Book of Revelation with planetary disasters as frightening as those alluded to in the authentic account.

Salvation comes from giving the priests control over our daily lives to redeem us from our carbonaceous sins. Penance and indulgence take the form of "offsets" to carbon-spewing offenses like frivolous exotic vacations, meaty outdoor barbecues, incandescent-bulb burning, and driving a Hummer (a mortal sin!).

Not to worry though, there is mercy in environmentalism. For the ability to continue trespasses like economic expansion in industrialized nations while enjoying a guilt-free contemporary lifestyle, the offsets are invoked to spare those in Third World countries from the modern burdens of ominous power plants, dirty cement kilns, egregious chemical factories, heartless pharmaceutical industries, sterile medical clinics, gluttonous harvests and gushing purified water.

Backward-flying Comet Heralds Discovery of Atlantis?

Comet Lulin Tails Credit & Copyright: Joseph Brimacombe

While the greenish backward-flying , twin-tailed comet, Lulin appears bright in outerspace this week, another enigma seems to have appeared in innerspace... the lost city of Atlantis.

From Atlantis Claimed to Be Found Using Google Earth, Google Says Otherwise :

"...some oceanographers, geophysicists, and other researchers aren't accepting Google's explanation and insist the image might be the long lost city of Atlantis, a staple of Greek mythology. They point out that the location in Google Earth closely echoes where Greek philosopher Plato claimed Atlantis to be located. Plato had said that Atlantis was 620 miles of Africa's coast, past the Canary Islands. He wrote that the land was home to advanced civilization before earthquake and floods sunk it into the sea around 9,700BC — nearly 12,000 years ago.

Editor's note:

In 1623 Sir Francis Bacon expressed his aspirations and ideals in The New Atlantis. Released in 1627, this utopian novel was his creation of an ideal land where "generosity and enlightenment, dignity and splendor, piety and public spirit" were the commonly held qualities of the inhabitants of Bensalem. In this work, he portrayed a vision of the future of human discovery and knowledge. - Wikipedia

The Global Financial Crisis may be birthing Bacon's utopian vision in the form of the New World Order. Comet Lulin's arrival this week just adds to the intrigue of what naysayers label "conspiracy".

The Coming Cashless Economy

Prophesied cashless society: It's almost here by Hal Lindsey WND

...One of the first things I expect to see introduced as a consequence of this "transformational crisis" is the elimination of cash as a medium of exchange. This is a step that governments and banks have been trying to take for almost two decades without success.

There are good and logical reasons for the elimination of cash. It will essentially wipe out the cash dependent drug trade. It will remove the incentive behind most petty crimes. Paper money is dirty, spreads diseases and it is expensive to print and expensive to handle.

Electronic money addresses all of these issues in a single stroke. The difficulty rests in overcoming public resistance to the idea. But desperate times call for desperate measures, as the saying goes, and when the times get desperate enough, public resistance will evaporate like summer rain.

The Book of the Revelation foretells the events that will take place during the final seven years of human government before the Second Coming of Christ. It records the judgments of what popular culture has come to call the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse

Germany Calls For Regulation of Global Financial Markets

European Leaders Discuss Common Ground in Economic Crisis By Lisa Bryant Paris VOA

European leaders agreed to a common platform to combat the global financial crisis that includes oversight of all financial markets and products around the world. The proposed measures were drafted in Berlin in preparation for a key meeting of the world's economic powers in April.

The measures for financial markets proposed by EU leaders are a sweeping and tough reaction to what many perceive to be excesses and lack of regulation that helped trigger the global economic crisis. At a meeting in Berlin, leaders from eight European countries called for regulating financial markets and hedge funds, investment funds that typically lead to aggressive financial strategies.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who hosted the summit, said all financial markets, products and participants that pose a major risk must be regulated.

Ms. Merkel also called for world economies to coordinate in establishing sanctions for tax shelters and regions where financial deals are opaque.

Globalists see econ crisis as excuse for 'new world'

Leaders in Davos bill meltdown as opportunity to expand control

By Jerome R. Corsi© 2009 WorldNetDaily

A call to utilize the current global economic crisis as a panic in which governments worldwide can move to nationalize banks is emerging from the 2009 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

The forum's founder, Klaus Schwab, told CNN yesterday the current global economic slowdown is a "transformational crisis" that should be utilized to shape a "new world."

"Above all else this is a crisis of confidence," Schwab said. "To restore confidence you have to establish signposts that the world after the crisis will be different. We have to create a new world and that is what Davos 2009 will be all about – serving society."

Speaking from the Davos conference yesterday, Nouriel Roubini, New York University professor at the Stern School of Business, told CNBC the global banking system is "effectively insolvent."

Marian Apparitions: The Anti-Coming of Christ

No words beautiful enough by Chloe Gotsis Billerica, Mass. -

The first sign she is coming is a bright white light. She has bright blue eyes and long black hair covered by a white veil and often wears a gray dress and light blue cloak.

Although historians have long studied Mary – whom Christians believe was the mother of Christ – there is no evidence of her appearance.

But one man from Medjugorje, Bosnia-Herzegovina claims to not only know what she looks like, but says he has seen her every day for the past 27 years.

On Feb. 6, at approximately 6:40 p.m., Ivan Dragicevic said she appeared to him as he said the Rosary – a series of prayers that utilize a string of beads -- before an audience of 400 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church.

“I felt her closeness,” said Dragicevic, who was one of six Croatian youths who reported that Mary appeared to them beginning June 24, 1981 in Medjugorje, a city that at the time was located inYugoslavia. “I feel no time and space [when she is around]. There are no words beautiful enough that can describe her beauty.”

But Dragicevic, who still lives in Medjugorje and keeps a residence in the Boston area, said Mary – also referred to as the Madonna -- does not bring messages of fear, the end of the world or the second coming of Christ – an event many Christians believe will happen at the end of the world.

Instead, he said Mary sends a message of hope and desire to help.

The reported visions have drawn more than 30 million pilgrims to Medjugorje and have sparked interest and skepticism both within and outside the Catholic Church.

Silencing the Watchmen

By Jan Markell of Olive Tree Ministries

America is changing at break-neck speed and many of the changes are not helpful! While Americans were eager for "change," it is doubtful they anticipated the loss of free speech.

So let me explain the unfair "Fairness Doctrine." My radio program, Understanding the Times, is in the target range.

The National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) met last weekend in Memphis and according to President Frank Wright, experienced an ominous shroud cast by the issue of the "Fairness Doctrine." They intend to fight this issue as much as that is possible. However, they may not even be given the opportunity to fight it as they would wish.

In an article posted online by Human Events on February 6, "Christian broadcasters say they will be targeted once President Obama's appointees gain control of the Federal Communications Commission."

Future American Christian Students Uncertain As Obama Signs Stimulus Plan

Stefan J. Bos, Worthy News Chief International Correspondent

COLORADO, USA (Worthy News)-- Devoted Christian students across the United States faced uncertainty Tuesday, February 17, as President Barack Obama signed into law the nation's biggest ever economic stimulus plan which bans religious worship or instruction in university and college facilities that receive state funds for renovations.

"No funds awarded under this section may be used for – (3) modernization, renovation, or repair of facilities – (A) used for sectarian instruction or religious worship; or (B) in which a substantial portion of the functions of the facilities are subsumed in a religious mission," a part of the plan says.

One of the effects will be to bar Bible studies and worship meetings by Christian and other religious student groups in facilities that have undergone repairs or modernization work underwritten by stimulus funds, according to religious liberty advocates.

Global Television for Our Future Global Leader

AIM Column By Cliff Kincaid February 9, 2009

Is this journalism? Or is it brainwashing and propaganda?

Surprise and even shock were among the reactions to my recent column about how elite members of the World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting in Davos, Switzerland, were considering a proposal for a new global television network to usher in a state of “global governance.” It sounded authoritarian, even totalitarian, to some.

Here are more of the troubling details.

The media proposal, which was included in “The Global Agenda 2009” report, is to create “a new global network” with “the capacity to connect the world, bridging cultures and peoples, and telling us who we are and what we mean to each other.” Several prominent U.S. media figures signed on to the alarming and controversial proposal.

Obama Emphasizes 'One Law' that Binds All Religions

It appears that the ground is being prepared by leaders from around the world (including the President of the United States) for a common one world religion that is inclusive of all religions as an answer for world peace. This, of course, is exactly what Bible believing Christians have expected would occur based on the study of Bible prophecy.

February 6 - Obama Emphasizes 'One Law' that Binds All Religions

There is one law that all major religions share, President Barack Obama contended on Thursday. That is, to love thy neighbors.

Religion too often is a source of division and animosity, he said to thousands of attendees, including several world leaders and hundreds of members of Congress, at the annual National Prayer Breakfast held in Washington, D.C. But the holy scriptures of the world's major religions all teach the Golden Rule, he said.

"There is one law that binds all great religions together," Obama said, according to ABC News.

"It is, of course, the Golden Rule - the call to love one another, to understand one another, to treat with dignity and respect those with whom we share a brief moment on this Earth."

Who Is Your Creator?

Originally posted December 6, 2008

Julie Haberle of Who Is Your Creator uses the media, display advertising, and website to raise awareness of the serious misrepresentations and lack of scientific proof for the Theory of Evolution and Darwinism.

The website offers scientific evidence for creation, an online forum and offers resources that expose the errors of evolution.Haberle is attempting to sound the alarm so Christians can be prepared for Darwin Day. On February 12, 2009, Darwin Day will be celebrated in institutions across the globe.

The evolutionists are now attempting to use DNA to support Darwin's theory. From the Darwin Day website:

Current research in the field of genetics, including that on the human genome, has conclusively shown that all humans are essentially identical and that we are genetically related to all other living things on this planet. Thus an enlightened view of genetics is one of unity and equality among all humans and also one that fosters a deeper sense of respect and appreciation for all life. Today the validity of Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection rests in our understanding of the molecular mechanisms of genetics. Therefore, we conclude that Charles Darwin is a worthy symbol on which to focus, in order to build a Global Celebration of Science and Humanity that is intended to promote a common bond among all people of the earth.

Listen to Jan Markell of Olive Tree Ministries' discussion with Julie Haberle of Who is Your Creator:

A grassroots organization now international is in the forefront fighting both evolution and "Darwin Day" coming up in February. "Who is Your Creator?" is trying to get their vital message to churches, schools, and more. Learn how you can sign on to this and silence the shrill noise of the God-haters around the world.

Darwin and Lincoln: The Race Connection

by Ken Ham, President/CEO, AiG–U.S.

Exactly 200 years ago today, two very famous people were born. Both men greatly impacted the world, but their legacies were quite different.

Abraham Lincoln and Charles Darwin were born on February 12, 1809. Among President Lincoln’s famous achievements, of course, was the abolition of slavery in several states during the Civil War. At this same time, Darwin’s famous book On the Origin of Species (published 1859) was gaining in popularity. But Darwin’s view of dark-skinned people like the former slaves was different from that of Lincoln.

The subtitle of On the Origin of Species gives a hint to his racist beliefs: The Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life. Now, Darwin is known to have used the word races to apply to animals, but his use of the term races as it also relates to people became clear a few years later with his book The Descent of Man. In that book, Darwin called those with dark skin “degraded,” and wrote that he would rather be descended from a monkey than such a “savage.”

Meditation + Monasticism= Catholicity

Seton Hall University announces the presentation of "Uncaging Our Minds and Opening the Ears of Our Hearts: Thomas Merton's Legacy for Contemplative Living."

Not a surprising event at a Roman Catholic institution for higher learning. What is noteworthy is the introduction of the presenter, Distinguished Guest Lecturer Jonathan Montaldo.

"Montaldo will deliver a critical retrospective on major elements of Thomas Merton's legacy for readers in the 21st century. He will examine Merton's personal and compassionate transparency to his life's cohorts in his autobiographical writing, and his monastic life's tendency toward developing a universal inclusiveness -- Catholicity -- with all other beings."

Editor's note: Catholicity...just in time for globalocity. Modern day interfaith advocates such as Tony Campolo continue to carry Merton's torch of mystical unity among all religions.

World heads for 'water bankruptcy', says Davos report

by Terra Daily Staff Writers Davos, Switzerland (AFP) Jan 30, 2009

The world is heading toward "water bankruptcy" as demand for the precious commodity outstrips even high population growth, a new report warned Friday.

In less than 20 years water scarcity could lose the equivalent of the entire grain crops of India and the United States, said the World Economic Forum report, which added that food demand is expected to sky-rocket in coming decades.

"The world simply cannot manage water in the future in the same way as in the past or the economic web will collapse," said the report.
