Immanuel Baptist Church in Colonial Heights named in sexual abuse lawsuit.

Motion filed to add religious organizations to lawsuit involving church sex abuse

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va.-- Attorneys have filed a motion to add religious organizations to a multi-million-dollar civil lawsuit in connection with a sexual abuse case involving Immanuel Baptist Church in Colonial Heights.

...The lawsuit involves former Immanuel Baptist youth group leader Jeffrey Dale Clark and his father Alvin “Ted” Clark, who held several leadership positions at the church spanning more than four decades. Fred K. Adkins, a former junior pastor at Immanuel Baptist, is also named in the civil suit.

The motion was filed by attorneys with the law firm Breit Cantor. They are representing eight boys who they say were abused by Jeffery Clark between 2008 and 2015.

Clark is serving a 25-year prison sentence after being pleading guilty to three counts of aggravated sexual battery and two counts of indecent acts with child by a custodian in 2016.

The motion alleges that Ted Clark threatened one of the plaintiffs to recant his allegation against his son, which enabled Jeffrey Clark to continue working at the church.

Editor's note:  Another example of tragic leadership abuse on multiple levels at Immanuel Baptist Church.  Pray for the eight or more families victimized by these crimes and other offenses.
Though there is a new ministry team at IBC since these events, the IBC Library still includes the heresy of Rick Warren. Could it be that evil moved in when the leadership moved away from Biblical faithfulness back in 2006?

Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house. Proverbs 17:13
