SBC In The State Of Disaster

On the eve of the Southern Baptist Convention's Annual Meeting, Indiana and the Midwest west were pummeled with deadly, record-setting storms. The headlines tell the story:

FOX NEWS: Indiana In State of Disaster

President declares portion of central and Southern Indiana 'major disaster area'

Ironic that the SBC Annual Meeting's Pastor Conference had a near-charismatics theme of "Prepare For Rain" inferring the Holy Spirit moving as the wind and rain upon the assembly.

Michael Catt, President SBC Pastors’ Conference 2008, provides an overview that highlights prayer in the local church. Catt calls for prayer meetings "where people long for God to move in their midst...The key to the church in Acts was prayer." ( Ed.note: The key to the Church in Acts was Jesus Christ moving within an repentant, obedient, and doctrinally-fed group of sinners displaying the manifold gifts of the Holy Spirit.)

And what kind of prayer? The pseudo-Roman Catholic kind expressed at public prayer stations that are available at the Convention? The contemplative prayer methods endorsed by state conventions?

"The wind of God blowing through our midst on Monday afternoon as we focus on the necessity of revival." Catts fails to call for repentance. It's too convenient to blame God for not moving during our call for Him to revive us.

Catts echoes the progressive, public square "Christians" stating..." We must change what we are doing if we are going to reach the children and students of our country. We are losing this generation because we’ve forgotten they are our future."

No, Mr. Catts, the SBC is losing more than this generation...the SBC has lost the Gospel. Prime example is the deafening silence as Southern Baptist Pastor Rick Warren, et al., align their organizations with global, ecumenical groups that honor different gods.

Can the SBC see the handwriting on it's own wall.."Prepare For Rain?" Oh, there will be a move of the Spirit within the SBC. But a move that will bring judgement for the pollution, violence and harlotry that the Southern Baptist Convention ignores within it's ranks, all in the name of autonomy, and not in the name of God.

Ezekiel 33: 28 And I will make the land a desolation and a waste, and her proud might shall come to an end, and the mountains of Israel shall be so desolate that none will pass through. 29 Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I have made the land a desolation and a waste because of all their abominations that they have committed.

2Chronicles 13:8 "And now you think to withstand the kingdom of the LORD in the hand of the sons of David, because you are a great multitude and have with you the golden calves that Jeroboam made you for gods. 9 Have you not driven out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and made priests for yourselves like the peoples of other lands? Whoever comes for ordination with a young bull or seven rams becomes a priest of what are no gods. 10But as for us, the LORD is our God, and we have not forsaken him. We have priests ministering to the LORD who are sons of Aaron, and Levites for their service. 11They offer to the LORD every morning and every evening burnt offerings and incense of sweet spices, set out the showbread on the table of pure gold, and care for the golden lampstand that its lamps may burn every evening. For we keep the charge of the LORD our God, but you have forsaken him. 12Behold, God is with us at our head, and his priests with their battle trumpets to sound the call to battle against you. O sons of Israel, do not fight against the LORD, the God of your fathers, for you cannot succeed."
