The Fire of God

Bible search results

Circumcise yourselves to the Lord; remove the foreskin of your hearts, O men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem; lest my wrath go forth like fire, and burn with none to quench it, because of the evil of your deeds.”
The Lord Proclaims Judgment ] Therefore thus says the Lord, the God of hosts: “Because you have spoken this word, behold, I am making my words in your mouth a fire, and this people wood, and the fire shall consume them.
And they have built the high places of Topheth, which is in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, which I did not command, nor did it come into my mind.
You shall loosen your hand from your heritage that I gave to you, and I will make you serve your enemies in a land that you do not know, for in my anger a fire is kindled that shall burn forever.”
But if you do not listen to me, to keep the Sabbath day holy, and not to bear a burden and enter by the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will kindle a fire in its gates, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem and shall not be quenched.’”
O house of David! Thus says the Lord: “‘Execute justice in the morning, and deliver from the hand of the oppressor him who has been robbed, lest my wrath go forth like fire, and burn with none to quench it, because of your evil deeds.’”
The Chaldeans who are fighting against this city shall come and set this city on fire and burn it, with the houses on whose roofs offerings have been made to Baal and drink offerings have been poured out to other gods, to provoke me to anger.
“Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Go and speak to Zedekiah king of Judah and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord: Behold, I am giving this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire.
Behold, I will command, declares the Lord, and will bring them back to this city. And they will fight against it and take it and burn it with fire. I will make the cities of Judah a desolation without inhabitant.”
As Jehudi read three or four columns, the king would cut them off with a knife and throw them into the fire in the fire pot, until the entire scroll was consumed in the firethat was in the fire pot.
Then Jeremiah took another scroll and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah, who wrote on it at the dictation of Jeremiah all the words of the scroll that Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire. And many similar words were added to them.
For even if you should defeat the whole army of Chaldeans who are fighting against you, and there remained of them only wounded men, every man in his tent, they would rise up and burn this city with fire.’”

THE PAPACY OF THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH

THE PAPACY OF THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH

In the Apprising Ministries piece On Contemplative Spirituality and Charismania I told you that the ongoing evangelical fascination with corrupt Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism (CSM)–along with its parallel track of charismania–is a major reason why we see the mainstream of professing Prostestant Christendom opening itself up for full fellowship with the apostate Roman Catholic Church.
For example, evangelical megapastor Rick Warren is on record embracing apostate Roman Catholicism as a viable form of the historic orthodox Christian faith. As I documented a while back in Southern Baptists Assist the Roman Catholic Church to Infiltrate Evangelicalism, Warren is hardly the only one aligned with/promoted by the Southern Baptist Convention openly and actively involved with this particular apostasy.
However, concerning Rick Warren’s compromised embrace of the Church of Rome, you can see it for yourself e.g. in Rick Warren Endorsing Catholics Come and Rick Warren on the Roman Catholic EWTN Network. The latter piece features a transcription of an interview conducted by Roman Catholic apologist Raymond Arroyo where Warren refers to Rome’s current Pope Francis as “our new pope.” Sadly, scores of people listening to leaders within Ecumenical Church of Deceit (ECoD) are now being led along the broad ecumenical road back to the Roman Catholic Church, the mother of this evil ECoD.
As it pertains to the Church of Rome’s papacy, for our purposes here, in that aforementioned Arroyo interview we find Rick Warren praising the late Pope John Paul II. Now let me bring you back to the Christianity Todayarticle The Pope We Never Knew, which I first cited in The Deceivers of Roman Catholicism. CT author David Scott tells us that Pope “John Paul II’s biggest accomplishment was his ecumenism,” and further, that John Paul II:
is the same pope who called evangelicals in South America “rapacious wolves” for their evangelism of Catholics…
The pope who in his 1995 encyclical Ut Unum Sint invited input from non-Catholic Christians on the primacy of the office of Peter, is the same man whose Vatican Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in 1999 declared the primacy of Peter “immutable.” (source)
For your edification I have linked Ut Unam Sint right from the Vatican library itself. Now, as I’ve said before, anyone familiar with Vatican I could have told you that the Roman Catholic Church sees its Pontiff as the successor to Peter and that his office is never-changing, i.e. immutable. As we turn to Chapter 2 of Session 4 from the official record of the decrees of Vatican I we find that it begins with these words:
On the permanence of the primacy of blessed Peter in the Roman pontiffs.
(source, emphasis mine)
As such, it would certainly appear that John Paul II was acting as a hypocrite in 1999 and never had any intention of altering the supposed primacy of the Roman Catholic papacy–for Rome will never surrender this permanent man-made office–which is the very zenith of human pride! In our look at Rome’s official dogma concerning its papacy, let’s take a quick moment to consider the following from the Second Vatican Council held by the Church of Rome in the mid 1960’s.

The legal system of the Roman Catholic church is probably the longest-running in history. Canon law, the commonly used name for this system, has been accorded near magical status by some of its practitioners, who are firmly convinced it has an answer to every problem facing the institutional church.

...I have been a canonist long enough to know that canon law never had a chance. My belief is based on the fact that canon law is a legal system in service to a monarchy. By its very nature, the primary goal is to protect the monarchs. There is no separation of powers in the Catholic church, hence no checks and balances.

It doesn't take a seer with a crystal ball to know what happens in a society when there are no restraints on the sources of power. The short history of the contemporary chapter of the church's problem with destructive sexual behavior has proven beyond a doubt that the institution's main concern is the protection of the hierarchy and not the victims.

Southern India's worst flooding in a century

Death toll rises in southern India's worst flooding in a century

The downpours that started Aug. 8 have triggered floods and landslides and caused homes and bridges to collapse across Kerala, a picturesque state known for its quiet tropical backwaters and beautiful beaches.
Thousands of rescuers were continuing efforts to reach out to stranded people and get relief supplies to isolated areas by hundreds of boats and nearly two dozen helicopters, said P.H. Kurian, a top disaster management official in Kerala. He said weather conditions had improved considerably and expected the nearly 10,000 people still stranded to be rescued by Monday.
An estimated 800,000 people have taken shelter in some 4,000 relief camps across Kerala, Kurian said.
Weather officials have predicted more rains across the state through Monday morning. In several villages in the suburbs of Chengannur, one of the worst-affected areas, carcasses of dead cattle were seen floating in muddy waters as water began receding. However, vast rice fields continued to be marooned and many vehicles were submerged.

Satanic Temple Rally at Arkansas State Capitol

Satanic Temple Rally at State Capitol Targets Arkansas Lawmaker

TTLE ROCK, Ark. - Nearly four months after crews reinstalled the Ten Commandments monument on state capitol grounds, the Satanic Temple came back Thursday with a statue of its own.
The group's "Rally for the First Amendment" brought together Satanists, Christians, even the KKK as a flatbed truck wheeled the Baphomet monument to the capitol steps to chants of "Hail Satan!"
While some were there to protest, different beliefs mostly came with a unified message: all or none. They argue if the Ten Commandments stand on capitol grounds, their religious statues should, too.
"This is not a protest against the Ten Commandments," Lucien Greaves, the spokesperson for the Satanic Temple, told the crowd. "This is not a protest of Satanists against Christians. This is not a protest of secularists against believers. This is a rally for reason in the face of prejudice."
The tone throughout the rally remained respectful for the most part. Groups thanked the others for coming, some even had exchanges like the following:
"You're an intelligent man," a Christian said. "I could see you in heaven some day turning from your sin."
"What if I said I didn't want to go to heaven," a Satanist responded. "Heaven sounds boring to me."
The only time law enforcement got involved was when the second speaker, Chad Jones, took the podium. A masked protestor was not happy with what the Conway-based minister with Arkansas Progressive Christians was preaching.

More Than 66,600 People Have Downloaded Exorcism Apps

More Than 66,600 People Have Downloaded Exorcism Apps

As the Roman Catholic Church faces the biggest clerical sex abuse scandal yet, demand for Catholic-style demon busting is reaching new kinds of heights. Exorcism is a booming industry, with French exorcists charging up to €500, and the Vatican struggling to keep up.
According to a new report from the business intelligence site Compelo, and some extra sleuthing from PJ Media, at least 66600 people have downloaded exorcism apps on their smartphones, seeking to cast out demons without the help of a priest. If the recent Catholic Church scandal makes people wary of men of the cloth, these apps may become even more popular.
In April, about 200 exorcists-in-training arrived in Rome for a week-long class on casting out demons. One of the teachers, 89-year-old Cardinal Ernest Simoni of Albania, led a session on casting out demons over cellphone. He did not mention the separate exorcism apps, however.

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
There is no tsunami threat to Hawaii after a strong earthquake in the South Pacific basin.
Officials at the National Tsunami Warning Center said the quake struck the Fiji Islands region Saturday afternoon, but no Pacific-wide tsunami threat was generated.
It initially registered as a 7.9-magnitude earthquake, but since the original alert, the USGS has upgraded the magnitude of the earthquake to an 8.2.
The quake happened around 2:20 p.m. Saturday near the Fijian island of Ndoi.
The NTWC said small, non-destructive waves were observed near the area. But the PTWC says the quake was at a depth too deep to generate and strong tsunami waves.
This story will be updated.
