Instruction For The Days of Disaster

Teaching Elder Brian Barber of Grace Fellowship presents Rejoice and Be Glad for the LORD Reigns . This message on the Sovereignty of God as reflected in Psalm 97 was delivered in the wake of the recent tornadoes that hit Virginia...

In contrast to what the psalmist says, what the world is hearing from the church today, "Let Jesus sit on the throne on your life...Let Jesus in the door of your heart. As If "I" have the power to allow God to do something or not...that is to insist that the will of the creator is impotent and the will of the creature is omnipotent-A.W. Pink.

...He reigns despite disasters...The overwhelming message of Scripture is "Our God reigns".

In this visual culture in which we live...we take all that we observe and say this is reality, and how do I interpret the scriptures in light of the reality that I observe? Instead, the starting point for interpreting everything we see should be from our knowledge of God, our theology...

...We should be saying " How do I interpret the things I am observing in light of the reality of what God has said about himself?"

There is no hope in any theology that makes the Lord the royal subject of mankind. What brings hope to the hopeless, comforts the broken, help to the helpless is the response from the Church..."Our God reigns".

The message God's people ought to echo, the words of the psalmist:"Take hope, be helped, rejoice and be glad for the Lord reigns"
