Chinese gov’t says over 70,000 dead or missing
China raised the number of dead or missing from a devastating earthquake to more than 70,000 on Tuesday, as rescuers found more survivors eight days after the huge tremor hit.

UN Estimates Myanmar Deaths Between 63,000 and 100,000
Relief workers have been turned away from the devastated Irrawaddy delta where more than 2 million people, believed to have survived the May 3 cyclone, now face disease and starvation.

A Busy Year as Tornadoes Wreak Havoc
Meteorologists who keep records for the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration say that the United States is having its deadliest tornado season in a decade and that this year may be on pace to set a record for the most tornadoes. At least 100 people have been killed through mid-May, the highest number of fatalities since the same period in 1998.
