Pope to Meet Leaders of Other Faiths

From The Age.com.au

In a show of openness and unity, Pope Benedict XVI has asked to meet leaders and representatives of other faiths while visiting Sydney for World Youth Day.

The July gathering will include an ecumenical meeting with other Christian leaders and an interfaith meeting, both attended by The Pope...

"...But like so much the church does ... it seeks to serve all comers. Everyone is invited to join in the activities and catch the spark from these young people, to witness what may well be the biggest event in the history of Australia, certainly the biggest youth event and certainly the biggest religious event to date."

The Pope will hold an ecumenical meeting with the leaders or representatives of Christian faiths, including the Anglican, Protestant, Orthodox, Lutheran, Presbyterian and Eastern Rite Churches.

In a second meeting, the Pope will join some 40 heads of other faith traditions including Jews, Muslims, Buddhists and Hindus.
