National Day of Prayer & Meditation?

While the White House invoked the Golden Rule and opted for a private observance of the National Day of Prayer, another segment of the Federal government was promoting National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day.

Embedded in the The Technical Assistance Partnership for Child and Family Mental Health (TA Partnership) website are links to youth spirituality and meditation resources.

Here's just a few examples:

National Federation of Families conference in December 2007

"There will be some focus on youth leadership, there will be several activity-oriented workshops, and a draft agenda has been posted at the FFCMH website. Brittany Couch from OK will be presenting a Friday AM workshop specifically for youth coordinators. On Saturday and Sunday 6:30 AM there will be cardio hip-hop and meditation (guided imagery) options for conference participants."

Summer System of Care Community Meeting in Tulsa, Oklahoma , June 3–6, 2003 workshop:

Patty Sauter uses a holistic program that includes meditation, acupuncture, massage, creative arts and art therapy, and exercise as ways to help empower young women to know that they can control their lives.
