Emergents Cry Out: Down With Sola Scriptura!

THE EMERGING REBELLION AGAINST SOLA SCRIPTURA AND THE GROWING CULT OF ROB BELL

These people have long ago abandoned fidelity to the Word of God in the Bible; simply, and willfully, refusing to acknowledge its final authority. The tragic fact is that when evangelical leaders embraced such as Doug Pagitt and his postliberal pal Rob Bell they had no idea of the terrbile consequences to come.

Nola Scriptura: This post needs no introduction. It is a textbook example of the rebellion against the scriptures which has been referred to in recent posts.

Rob Bell: We Need to See the Feminine Side of God: Over at Slice of Laodicea Ingrid Schlueter posts a clip of the Nooma DVD “She” by the Elvis of the Emerging Church rebellion against Sola Scriptura Rob Bell.

Christian Universalism Affirms Salvation By Jesus: The Emergent rebellion against Sola Scriptura continues gaining strength and because evangelicalism only pays it lip service anyway subjective “experiences” with “God” will very quickly become the norm. You will continue to see leaders in the Emerging Church come out of the closet in their support of practicing homosexuals being accepted as Christians as Tony Jones already has.

Proposed Alternatives to Sola Scriptura: The Emergents no longer want to live under “tyranny of a paper pope”. They want the freedom to find God using ANY method or source that men can concoct. Therefore, the right thing to do is to help them in their quest to hear from God outside of His Word. So, here are my suggestions...

Phyllis Tickle: Sola Scriptura Hopelessly Insufficient: "The new Christianity of the Great Emergence must discover some authority base or delivery system and/or governing agency of its own. It must formulate—and soon—something other than Luther’s sola scriptura which, although used so well by the Great Reformation originally, is now seen as hopelessly outmoded or insufficient,…" (The Great Emergence, 149, 150, 151) - Phyllis Tickle

Editor's Note: The Virginia Baptist Mission Board and The Baptist General Assembly of Virginia ( BGAV) promote Emergent church movement leaders...how long before the BGAV punches off Sola Scriptura? Could it be they already have punched the Bible off?
