The closest approach of the moon to Earth is on November 14, 2016. This will be the closest the moon at distance to planet Earth so far this century. The moon will be close again in November 2034. Meanwhile, in the whole of the 21st century, the closest full moon will be on December 6, 2052
Note the spike in large earthquake activity within last 48 hours of the October 16, 2016 Supermoon event.
