The Corporate Staff-Driven Church

Here's another unfortunate example of church leadership imitating a corporate staff manuever...

Men of Honor has been disowned by Houston Northwest (Baptist) Church as the ministry to men, in favor of a self-branded ministry controlled by staff. No reason given us for this decision, only the excuse that "no harm was meant".

We are welcomed by the church as a "club" of sorts or "small group", to provide manpower to the staff for events and provide service as needed.

Considering our lack of church affiliation, this web site is now my personal effort to witness Truth to the world. Issues related to worldly affairs are covered here.

After years of earnestly contending for biblical leadership and foundational statements for HNW, and getting virtually nowhere, my wife and I have decided to leave HNW for a more biblical church.

  1. My family and I attended that church several years ago when it was Houston Northwest Baptist church. It was before their previous pastor was forced to resign. We left that church due to our moving to another neighborhood and attending an Baptist church that was closer. We heard that Houston Northwest had gone PDC and dropped the "Baptist" frmo their church name (My office is close to the church). They are following step-by-step the PDC format, which includes runing the church like a corporation with the Sr pastor acting like a CEO. The church we went to eventually dropped the "Baptist" from their name (used to be Copperfield Baptist Church, but now called Copperfield church. They too have adopted the whole PDC format, including running the churhc like a secular business corporation. The Sr. pastor is the CEO and he dictates what the churhc will do, not much say from any committees on anything. They have gone so far as to host the annual "Christian" Hip-Hop awards as well as adopt various Catholic practices, such as oberving Lent and Ash Wednesday. As churches begin to adopt secular business practices as a means for running a church, it becomes more like a business than a house of worship.
