"...Argentina is the second country in the region to recognize Palestine within a week. Brazil recognized the Middle-East entity on Friday a few days after Abbas sent an appeal for recognition. Uruguay reportedly is in line with its partners of the MERCOSUR trade bloc in recognizing Palestine as an independent nation.
Argentina's action provoked Israel, which termed it as "highly regrettable."
