The apparition of Mother Mary, which appeared first at the Sime Darby Medical Centre, continues to draw the faithful, including those from East Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia.
KLANG: The apparition of Mother Mary, which first appeared at the Sime Darby Medical Centre in Subang Jaya late last year, continues to draw the crowd at its new resting place at the Lady Of Lourdes Church here.
Although the image of the Virgin Mary which appeared on a glass window at the medical centre has yet to obtain the seal of approval from the local ordinary, the Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur, faithfuls continue visits to see for themselves the “miracle”.
The panel is being kept at the church in Klang pending further investigation to determine its authenticity by Vatican City officials.
Church warden, who only wanted to be known as Alfred, said although it was difficult to explain the appearance of the image, faithfuls were flocking to the Church, especially on weekends.
“It depends on the faith of the believers and the way they see it, and the image has appeared to remind us of the second coming of Christ,” he told FMT.
Approximately 200 people swarm the church on weekdays while the number rises to 800 and 1,000 on weekends to worship and marvel at the image.
Annette Kevin, a believer who had been treated at the Sime Darby Medical Centre when the apparition appeared, said he was “miraculously” healed after the image was spotted.
Caretaker of the image Steven Aru said believers from as far as East Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia visit the apparition and that “one has to visit to experience reality and not come with disbelief.”
A frequent visitor who only wanted to be identified as Getrude said the appearance of the image was a reminder to the people to get back to “God’s path.”
“It is a sign that God is calling and reminding all to follow his path. It is also a mark that He is reaching out to everyone.”
The image is open for viewing on weekdays from 7am-11am and 5pm- 8pm and weekends from 7am till 8pm.
Editor's note: Learn why the Mary of Rome is not the Mary of the Bible.
