DISCERNMENT OR CRITICISM

From author / missionary Roger Oakland of Understand The Times International:

Discernment in the church today is generally an unbiblical concept. Pastors are saying you must be known for what you are and never tell others for what you are against. But what if what you are against teachings that are leading people to hell? Would you be for that?

Taking a position from a biblical perspective with regard to purpose-driven-emerging Christianity is not very popular. Those who are working towards establishing the kingdom and getting closer to Jesus through contemplative practices rooted in eastern mysticism are very outspoken. If you are not for what they are for, you are against everything.

...When a watchman warns about teachings that are popular, the watchman is unpopular. However, popularity is not what determines truth. The popular position on origins is evolution. Does that mean evolution is true? What about the facts?

...I know a fellowship of pastors who have responded the same way when facts about the purpose-driven-emerging church were presented. When they were told the truth, they didn’t want to hear the truth. They said that telling the truth was being critical or having a critical spirit...

However, we know according to 2 Timothy Chapter four that in the last days that so-called Christians will not want to stand for sound doctrine. They will say that discernment and warning about false teaching is “just being critical.”

Read the rest here.

Editor's note: They will also say you are devisive and dogmatic, describe you as a trouble maker, a pillar that holds things up, one who is selfish and has emotional baggage, attempt to intimidate you into backing down from your concern, remove you as a Sunday School teacher, tell you that you are not welcome to attend, and deny they said it. And they know we are Christians by our love, by our love...
