Black Monday

Monday April 16, 2007 saw the record-setting nor'easter that caused two states to declare emergencies, and a death toll of 11 from the storm system that started in the Midwest.

On the same day, a third state declared an emergency for a man-made event, the tragic school shooting at Virginia Tech.

Monday also marked the Holocaust Remembrance Observance, a formal Jewish day of remembrance. This year, by the Jewish Calendar, the Observance fell on April 16.
