China hailstorms leave twelve dead
Extreme weather causes mass chaos as houses collapse and more than 270 are injured THE GUARDIAN
At least 12 people were killed and more than 270 injured after hailstorms hit southern China.
The official Xinhua News Agency said nine people were killed in the city of Dongguan, in southern Guangdong province after a Wednesday hailstorm.
It added 272 others were injured from the storm, which caused economic losses of 357m yuan (£37m).
Three other people died from hailstorms that began Tuesday in neighboring Hunan province, where 1,900 houses have collapsed.
China's meteorological administration said the severe weather was expected to continue through the weekend.
