African Woman's Apparitions of Mary
Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima reincarnates in Burundi
A Burundian woman claims to see apparitions of the Virgin Mary, mirroring similar such sightings in Fatima, Portugal almost a century ago.
Zebiya Ngendakumana, 30, says she sees visions of Jesus's mother in almost a similar way to Lucia Santos and her cousins did, in sightings that are now known as the Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima.
Lucia Santos said she started seeing the apparitions in 1917, when she was 10 years old, while Ngendakumana also said she began seeing the Virgin Mary 20 years ago, when she was 10.
While, the Burundian says Jesus's mother appears on the 12th of each month, Lucia said she saw the apparitions of the Virgin Mary on the 13th monthly.
Both drew the ire of the police, with Lucia and her cousins, Jacinta and Fransisco Marto, at one time being arrested and threatened with torture, while Ngendakumana's supporters have drawn the ire of authorities culminating in Tuesday's bloodbath.
At least six people died, while 35 others were injured after police opened fire on Ngendakumana's supporters who had gathered to witness an apparition on Tuesday.
