Guatemalan volcanoe Santiaguito increased their activity in the last hours and the authorities recommended on Monday took all the necessary precautions with the surrounding air traffic. The dispersion of ash in various directions and changes in wind pattern led to the National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology (Insivumeh) to warn about the civil aviation.
An Insivumeh report that Santiaguito volcano recorded 33 explosions in 24 hours, with a range of up to 800 meters above the crater, leaving ashes scattered in the southwest and southeast. Santiaguito volcano is located in Quetzaltenango district, and its height is 2,550 meters above sea level.

As our colleague Marc from vulkane.net reports, the volcano Batu Tara in the Sunda Sea off the island of Flores in Indonesia had a larger than usual ash eruption today, which triggered an alert of the VAAC Darwin, who raised the aviation color code to "orange", as the drifting ash cloud is be a hazard to local air traffic. Batu Tara is one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia and is characterized, similar to Stromboli volcano, by semi-permanent explosive summit activity.

Popocatepétl volcano in Mexico has been showing signs of increased activity recently, The National Center for Disaster Prevention (CENAPRED) reported yesterday. During 24-25 March, the volcano had 33 small steam and gas emissions, accompanied by small earthquakes and volcanic tremor. On Saturday night, incandescence was observed at the crater. CENAPRED recommends a safety radius of 12 kilometers around the volcano as eruptions with higher intensity could occur any time
RSOE-EDISON
Tungurahua volcano's activity has been increasing, Ecuador's Instituto Geofísico reports. Throughout the morning of March 26, a constant column of steam and ash was rising from the summit crater, reaching up to 3 km height and drifting towards the northeast, where ash fall occurred. Ash fall was significant in the San Francisco and Black River areas, and mild in Baños, the Ventanas en Runtún, Juive, Pondoa, Puntzán and Cusúa sectors. Occasional roaring explosion sounds were heard from small to moderate explosive events. Seismic activity remains characterized by volcanic tremor episodes lasting several minutes, interspersed with tremor bursts and long-period events, which are related to fluid movements within the volcano.

3.1-magnitude earthquake rattles Mineral, parts of northern Virginia
By Maggie Fazeli Fard
Seven months after a 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck Mineral, Va. and rattled much of the East Coast, a smaller quake shook the same area late Sunday night.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 3.1-magnitude quake hit just outside of Mineral, a town of fewer than 500 people about 80 miles southwest of Washington, at 11:21 p.m.
There were no reports of injury or damage, but people as far north as Fairfax and Loudoun counties reported feeling weak levels of shaking.

A 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck central Chile prompting an evacuation of coastal areas for fear of a tsunami and causing scenes of panic in an area devastated by a massive quake two years ago.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said "a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected." Government spokesman Andres Chadwick said the Office of National Emergencies had issued the evacuation order as a precaution due to "observation of a certain intake of the sea."
U.S. suffers extreme weather
By SETH BORENSTEIN 03/16/2012 7:56 PM
WASHINGTON — America’s weather is stuck on extreme.
Nearly 11 feet of snow has fallen on Anchorage, Alaska, this winter. That’s almost a record, and it’s forcing the city to haul away at least 250,000 tons of snow. Yet not much snow has dropped on the Lower 48 this year.
The first three months of 2012 have seen twice the normal number of tornadoes. And 36 states set daily high temperature records Thursday. So far this month, the U.S. has set 1,757 daily high temperature records. That’s similar to the number during last summer’s heat wave, said Jake Crouch, a climate scientist for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Six rare, but not unprecedented, March tornadoes struck Thursday in Michigan, which also set 26 heat records. Temperatures were in the 80s in some parts of the state.
Nationwide, there have been 132 tornadoes confirmed in January and February, with preliminary reports of more than 150 already in March.
Two different weather phenomena — La Nina and its northern cousin the Arctic Oscillation — shift storm and temperature patterns through the world, meteorologists say. Scientists say you cannot link a single weather event to global warming.

FOR THE LOVE OF HIS TRUTH provides outstanding illustrations of the conflicting statements of Rick Warren and his King's Way drama...
RSOE:
Heavy thundershowers swept across Southern West Virginia on Thursday, sending dozens of small streams out of their banks and across roads, isolating numerous communities and temporarily marooning students in at least three schools. The storm struck Thursday morning with a mixture of torrential rains, lightning and pea-size hail. During a briefing at the Logan County Emergency Services headquarters, Sen. Art Kirkendoll, D-Logan, told Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin that 1.7 inches of rain fell on Logan in a 75-minute period Thursday morning. Flood-prone Mud Fork, which passes through Verdunville before emptying into Holden Creek on the outskirts of Logan, suffered the heaviest damage from the storm. Mud Fork Road was blocked by high water, debris and slides throughout the day, leaving residents unable to leave, or receive outside assistance. About 45 students, along with teachers and staff, were preparing to spend the night at Verdunville Elementary School, blocked by high water, but secure on a hillside. An additional eight students were stranded at Logan Middle School, since buses were unable to take them to their homes.rnrn Students and staff were also stranded at Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College, where water from Mud Fork entered at least one building at the Logan County campus and flooded a number of cars in its parking lot. An estimated 150 to 200 homes and businesses were damaged by Thursday's flooding.
"We're in a rescue mode," Sonya Porter, deputy director of Logan County Emergency Services, told Tomblin, Adjutant General James Hoyer, and other state officials during Thursday's briefing. "We still can't get to the people along Mud Fork and some of the hollows." While no deaths or injuries were reported, Porter said two mobile homes had apparently been overturned by floodwaters near Rock House Branch of Mud Fork, and rescue crews were anxious to make sure their occupants were safe and accounted for.
Nine swift water rescue crews, including units from Kanawha and Boone counties, had begun conducting health and welfare checks on those living along Mud Fork and other hard hit areas on Thursday afternoon. Hoyer said four West Virginia Army National Guard Humvees were on the way to Logan County, and three to Lincoln County, to assist in making health and welfare checks and evacuating those in need of care.
A hoist-equipped helicopter was being sent from Parkersburg to Logan to help make emergency extractions. Runoff from hillsides flooded several streets in downtown, while water from Mud Fork and Holden Creek flooded streets in the Mount Gay-Shamrock area, and covered W.Va. 44 at several points between Mount Gay and Omar for much of the day. Emergency officials said the Man area of Logan County received relatively little damage from the storm.
Rick Warren has created quite the cloud of confusion by his defensive twisting of the truth regarding the Saddleback's Islamic "King's Way" effort.
Which makes one wonder if Rick Warren is employing the Islamic doctrine of creative lying known as tawriya.
Raymond Ibrahim , an Islamic and Middle East expert explains:
"Perhaps you have heard of taqiyya, the Muslim doctrine that allows lying in certain circumstances, primarily when Muslim minorities live under infidel authority. Now meet tawriya, a doctrine that allows lying in virtually all circumstances—including to fellow Muslims and by swearing to Allah—provided the liar is creative enough to articulate his deceit in a way that is true to him. (Though tawriya is technically not "new"—as shall be seen, it has been part of Islamic law and tradition for centuries—it is certainly new to most non-Muslims, hence the need for this exposition and the word "new" in the title.)
The authoritative Hans Wehr Arabic-English Dictionary defines tawriya as, "hiding, concealment; dissemblance, dissimulation, hypocrisy; equivocation, ambiguity, double-entendre, allusion." Conjugates of the trilateral root of the word, w-r-y, appear in the Quran in the context of hiding or concealing something (e.g., 5:31, 7:26).
As a doctrine, "double-entendre" best describes tawriya's function. According to past and present Muslim scholars (several documented below), tawriya is when a speaker says something that means one thing to the listener, though the speaker means something else, and his words technically support this alternate meaning."
A remarkable resemblance to another controversy Warren created in 2008:

Global Rumblings:
A large outbreak of hail and damaging winds is currently taking place through the states of Missouri, Illinois, south Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, W. Virginia , New York, Pennsylvania, South and North Carolina .
Out west, in the pacific northwest, a powerful low pressure system is coming ashore.. bringing with it damaging winds, strong cell thunderstorms, and winter weather advisories all along the west coast of the USA.
As this system out west pushes east -- I think it will indeed be producing several outbreaks of severe weather in the Midwest, South, Southeast, East coast, and North states. in otherwords.. a massive storm outbreak when the next system pushes through in a few days or less.
This current outbreak in the midwest to the northeast --- be aware these are very strong storms.. take heed any warnings issued in your particular areas.
RSOE:
Several homes were destroyed and others damaged Thursday when a tornado touched down near Dexter, Michigan, officials said. No injuries or deaths were immediately reported, said Marc Breckenridge, emergency management director for Washtenaw County. Authorities were assessing the number of damaged and destroyed structures, he said, adding the twister was not thought to be on the ground very long. Video from CNN affiliate WDIV showed one home reduced to rubble in a neighborhood, with an adjacent home heavily damaged. Dexter is about 10 miles northwest of Ann Arbor. The severe weather also affected the western and southwestern areas of Ann Arbor, said Mayor John Hieftje. Some streets were flooded, power lines were downed and one garage was struck by lightning, he said. Parts of the city also received hail, he said. The area was under a tornado warning until about 6:30 p.m., he said. Bill Marx, head baker at Dexter Bakery, told WDIV he was closing the business when he heard storm sirens. "I stepped outside and saw the clouds turning around," he said. "It was coming toward us. After it went by, it really started raining and hailing." An area resident uploaded video of the tornado approaching Dexter to the Internet sharing site YouTube. "There's trees flying around," one person can be heard saying on the video. A National Weather Service assessment will determine the strength of the tornado. Several counties in the area remained under severe thunderstorm and flash flood warnings Thursday night.

Midwestern heat wave fueled Tuesday's record-high 80-degree weather, breaking a record set in 1946. National Weather Service Meteorologist Chris Jansen said the warmest March 13 on record in Sioux City was 72 degrees in 1946.
The warm weather is expected to last through early next week, and there is a chance additional daily records may be broken during that time, Jansen said. Jansen advised against packing away the winter gear though. "You can't rule out more snow. It's still winter and April is still going to be here," Jansen said.
The good weather does bring its dangers. A hazardous weather outlook was in place Tuesday for the region due to the extreme risk of grass fires. Additional hazardous weather outlooks for grass fires may be issued throughout the next week due to the warm, dry weather.
Residents are advised against outdoor burning when there is an elevated risk of grass fires. "The fire risk will probably increase this week," Jansen said. "Spring is normally the peak time for grass fires."

"...I stand with Joseph Farah on this issue. He states, "If you compare the personality of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob -- the Christian and Hebrew God -- with Allah, Islam's god, the contrast could not be more stark. The Hebrew-Christian God is characterized by love. The Islamic god is characterized by war and vengeance. The Hebrew-Christian God provides a clear path to redemption and personal salvation in a fallen world -- through repentance. The Islamic god provides only one certain path to personal salvation -- martyrdom. The Hebrew-Christian God elevates the status of women. The Islamic god does the opposite." - Jan Markell, Olive Tree Ministries

"...While many supporters of Warren insist that claims in the article are false, the Register reporter and an editor at the paper told WND that Saddleback Church leadership confirmed that the article was “factually accurate.”
“Folks at Saddleback initially made but then withdrew a request for a clarification to the story’s first paragraph,” reporter Jim Hinch told WND in an email.
“Instead of the words ‘Muslims and Christians worship the same God’ they wanted the story to read ‘Muslims and Christians believe that God is one.’ The rest of the story, they said, is factually accurate.”
WND calls and emails to Warren were not returned."
Mattingly: Rick Warren faces the latest controversy over Islam, and the meaning of one God
Terry Mattingly directs the Washington Journalism Center at the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities.
At the Dome of the Rock on Jerusalem's Temple Mount, centuries of Islamic doctrine have literally been carved into the shrine's walls.
Two quotations on the northwest wall will be of special interest to anyone interested in the latest whirlwind of controversy linked to evangelical superstar Rick Warren and his giant Saddleback Church.
The outer-face inscription states, in part: "Praise be to God who has not taken a son and who does not have any partner in dominion. ..." On the inside, after a reference to Jesus, is written: "Peace be upon the day he was born, the day he dies and the day he is raised up alive. That is Jesus, son of Mary. ... It is not for God to take a son."
In other words, Islam proclaims a strict monotheism, while rejecting the Christian belief that God is One, yet has been revealed as God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Thus, it matters that fundamentalist critics are circulating excerpts from a recent Orange County (Calif.) Register report claiming that Warren and his megachurch have joined with nearby mosques to promote a "set of theological principles" — called the King's Way — proclaiming that "Christians and Muslims worship the same God."
Here's a collection of articles from FRONTPAGEMAG.COM regarding Rick Warren's affection for Islam...

Saudi Arabia’s Shiite problem
At least seven young Shiite Muslims have been shot dead and several dozen wounded by security forces in Eastern Saudi Arabia in recent months. While details of the shootings remain unclear, and the ministry of interior claims those shot were attacking the security forces, mass protests have followed the funerals of the deceased. These events are only the latest developments in the decades-long struggle of the Saudi Shiites, which has taken on a new urgency in the context of 2011's regional uprisings -- but have been largely ignored by mainstream media.
The events of the Arab Spring have heightened long-standing tensions in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province. Just three days after large-scale protests started in Bahrain on February 14, 2011, protests began in the Eastern Province, which is a 30-minute drive across the causeway from Bahrain. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Saudi interior ministry vowed to crush the protests with an "Iron Fist" and has unleashed a media-smear campaign against protests and the Shiites in general. While protests subsided over the summer, they started again in October and have become larger ever since, leading to an ever more heavy-handed response from the security forces...
So much for the "build it and they will come" gospel...

From Apprising Ministries
By now you’re likely aware of Rick Warren builds bridge to Muslims by veteran journalist Jim Hinch, which ran in the Orange Country Register. Hinch told us that back in December that Rick Warren began “an effort to heal divisions between evangelical Christians and Muslims.”
One of the ways Hinch said Warren would do this is:
by partnering with Southern California mosques and proposing a set of theological principles that includes acknowledging that Christians and Muslims worship the same God.
The effort, informally dubbed King’s Way, caps years of outreach between Warren and Muslims. (Online source)
Apprising Ministries began our coverage of this in Rick Warren, Islam, And Jim Hinch when Warren accused Hinch of putting out an article with “multiple errors.” I also shared Hinch’s defense that came from my discussion with him.
Then I would write Apprising Ministries Exclusive On Rick Warren, Jim Hinch, And Islam after I contacted Hinch again concerning how I might obtain a copy of the King’s Way because it hasn’t been published anywhere.
He was kind enough to share the relevant portion concerning what it says about God. Then Ed Stetzer of the SBC’s Lifeway Research publishing arm decided to take a swipe at ministries like this and come to Warren’s defense.
So, yesterday I wrote Rick Warren, Ed Stetzer, And Watchbloggers where I helped to focus attention on the issues and walk you through what’s at stake. Briefly, one can see why Hinch said what he did.

North Korea renewed threats to launch a 'sacred war' against South Korea, indicating cross-border ties will remain icy despite Pyongyang's surprise nuclear deal with Seoul's close ally Washington.
The North's agreement to freeze some nuclear and missile activities in return for massive US food aid has raised cautious hopes of eased tensions under its new young leader Kim Jong-Un.
One News Now
...But Jan Markell, founder and director of Olive Tree Ministries, wonders how the Christian leader can overlook the Great Commission, which calls on Christians to "go and make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:16-20).
"Why and when did we get a pass on sharing our faith, on witnessing?" she wonders. "You can be a friend to a Muslim all the way into hell -- and that's where these Muslims are going, for Pete's sake. They're headed straight for hell, and Rick Warren could do something about that by sharing the gospel with them."
Markell says King's Way is part of the Church of Laodicea in Revelation 3.
"This is just more of the church that has lost its direction, that is not tending to the sheep properly," she decides.
The Olive Tree Ministries founder concludes that it is a tragedy that at this late hour, Warren is not telling lost Muslims that Christ is the only bridge to eternal life.

Within the last hour of this writing, an M-Class flare has fired off from the Sun. In addition, two large "filaments" and a coronal hole are releasing large amounts of charged particles mostly in the form of a plasma cloud.
All three of these events will not show its affect on Earth for another 48 and 72 hours.
What we see today in the mid-west US in the way of tornadoes, straight-line winds, micro-bursts, and wind-shears are the result of several CMEs (coronal mass ejections) over the last six days.
Watch for continued extreme weather events to occur over the next 72 hours. Of course this will be extended with each new charged particle event.
