Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff called for a reform of international institutions Wednesday, stressing the necessity of a new world order.
"International institutions have become obsolete. There is much to do. This governance needs to be reformed," Rousseff said in her speech at a graduation ceremony of 109 diplomats.
She recalled that at the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) summit held last week in China, the leaders of these major emerging economies called for a new world order adjusted to current realities.
"The recently concluded BRICS summit in China laid out the goal of major emerging countries for a more democratic international order," Rousseff said.
